1.0 Authorware Web Player

Q: How do I install the "Authorware Web Player"?

A: Because Microsoft and Netscape use different types of plug-ins, there are two different solutions for installing the Authorware Web Player. Each plug in is specific to that web browser.

If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer Click HERE

If you use Netscape Click HERE

Directions For users of Microsoft Internet Explorer

You can get the Authorware Web Player for Internet Explorer by clicking HERE or by following the instructions below.

  1. Click the Get Macromedia Authorware Web Player link under "Recommended Software for Internet Explorer Users".

  2. Click Install Now

    - Note:
    Macromedia's site has been known to slow down considerable when installing the Authorware Web Player plugin. Wait time for the install dialog to appear could be fairly long.

  3. Click Yes when the security warning dialog appears.

  4. When Fig. 4 appears the Authorware Web Player installation is complete

Directions For users of Netscape Navigator (and Communicator)

  1. Click the Get Macromedia Authorware Web Player link under "Recommended Software for Netscape Users"

  2. Click Download Now

  3. You will be prompted to save the Authorware Web Player Installer on your local computer. Find a suitable location on your computer and click Save.

  4. After the file as downloaded close Netscape and locate the installer on your computer. Double click the icon to launch the installer.

  5. Click Next

  6. Click Yes to agree to the license agreement

  7. Select "Netscape Navigator 3.0 or greater" and click Next

  8. Click Next to accept the default location for the Authorware Web Player plug-in files

  9. Click Next

  10. When Fig.13 appears the Authorware Web Player installation is complete

2.0 Biology 1114 Fish Cam Problems (Revised: 11/18/02)

Note:
These instructions pertain only to those users who access the fish cam with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Netscape browses do not require any additional software to view the Bio Fish Cam

Q: I can't get the Biology 1114 Fish Cam to work. It keeps telling me something about how it can't register the ActiveX control for Internet explorer. How can I fix this?

A: Due to forces beyond our control the ActiveX software that our network camera uses changed during a recent update. To correctly install the ActiveX control do the following:

  1. Go to directly to the Bio Fish Cam biofishcam.zo.okstate.edu
  2. Install the Axis camera control:

  3. Click yes on dialog box to install the "AxisCamControl"
  4. You should now see the LIVE feed from the fish cam:

  5. To test that the control is working properly go back to the Biology 1114 homepage
  6. Click "LIVE Bio Fish Cam" under the "Guest Access" area of the homepage

  7. If the control has been installed correctly a window should popup that looks something like this:
